I first met Karen at the Sands meeting 16^th Nov, we briefly talked about what the gold arts award was and how I would like to work alongside her and Jan.  In the meeting I got see her work from last year in the culture shops (Blackpool) and realise Karen’s techniques would be great starting point in developing my skills in creating a  original art work. Using Karen specialist knowledge in area of photography would help create a photograph, which could be used as a standalone piece of art rather than just to paint from.

Hi Nikki,

Lovely to meet you at the Sands meeting on Friday, what a fantastic session it was, thought Sandra was brilliant, a real inspiration & certainly given me lots of food for thought!

Things are really hectic for me at the moment as I start a new job on monday & have lots of work to do to tie up losse ends & complete training so most of my photography plans
have been put on hold for a bit. Definitely interested in meeting up, even if just for a natter, i will have a bit of time off Christmas week, but think most of this
will be tied up with family & friend commitments, so may be the new year now before we can meet up in person.

If you have any queries or questions about photography, or just fancy a natter then please feel free to call me on 07*****8.
Please give me a gentle reminder in a few weeks when things have (hopefully) quietened down a bit as i would love to meet up (not being
dismissive just mega busy & lots of new things to take in at the moment!)

Happy New Year,

I hope this are less hectic for you and that your new job going well.

Iam just send an e-mail to see there any chance of you helping me with parts of my Gold Arts Award. As part my Gold Arts Award I need to achieve certain items for the award these includes interviewing an arts practitioner and also learning from them to create a new piece of work. My personal arts development I want to extend my experiences in photograph.  I only take photo for own experiences to use for painting. I would really like to develop new skills so I can turn my own photographs into piece of art.

If there, anything you need help with I would like the chance to shadowing you or helping you any of your projects

Thanks for getting touch, hope you had a lovely Christmas & New Year, though it feels like an age ago now.
I've not really got any photography jobs booked in at the moment but would be more than happy to meet up with you
& see if I can help in anyway. I am processing a couple of shoots that I have already taken the pictures for & could definitely show you a few
post processing techniques etc,

I'm sure we could manage to organise going out & about shooting some images, or I could set up my studio lights at home & have a play around then (though i have to
be honest this isn't my speciality, I'm more photo documentary/reportage) though Jan maybe able to come & help (she's away at the mo though). Weekends & evenings best for me
with the new job. Feel free to give me a call on 07*******8 & have a chat, happy to help if I can,

CULTURE SHOPS / KAREN DUCKWORTH

‘Feathers & Mohawks’ is a dual themed exhibition drawing on photographer Karen Duckworth’s main interests in alternative culture, music, theatre and social documentary. Using a candid approach, Duckworth allows the viewer a rare glimpse behind the scenes of the world famous and iconic Blackpool venue ‘Funny Girls’.  In addition, the exhibition explores various aspects of Blackpool’s punk scene, featuring documentary style street photography, as well as dynamic live images from the Winter Garden’s international Rebellion Festival and various venues around the town. You can meet Karen Duckworth at the launch of Culture Shops on Friday 10th February, 6pm at FYCreatives, Church Street, Blackpool. Duckworth’s work will be on display at Bar Red, Church Street until the end of March. www.flickr.com/photos/karenduckworth

Karen was also involved in the Culture Shop project in the 1st year was also a good reason too learn my photographic off her because this will be something I will be involved with project 2 unit 2
